Learning the Rules of Business

I do not know how to do business.

I know how to make deals. Trading is within my wheelhouse just fine but I do not know how to take what I can do and start something new with it. Knowledge and skill just don’t fall in to the formula mentally for me to know that path.

Been listening to a few different podcasts and YouTube videos and he said a line that at least I think, taught me something important. Paul Heyman is, for those who do not know is a wrestling promoter and personality, that has done a fair amount in a lot of different places. Content, financing, and distribution are three things he deems the most important in reference to the business. He was on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch and it was just also a lesson in something else.

Until it happens, until the money is in your account, do not count on anyone honoring to their word, as he regaled those with how the pay-per-view company held more then two million dollars when they needed it and the company in charge of the ppv distribution thought it would be cheaper to handle it in court versus just paying them what had been earned from their contract.

Those three things if I can hammer out and make sure that I am not going from one paycheck to another should be a good set of things to start my future businesses. After that then the first things would be how to get money to invest into my business when for all intents and purposes I’m broke as a joke.

Always something to do. It seems no rest for the wicked, but I will stop here for now. Stay strong everyone.

Nanowrimo Attempt 2014

So for those reading this I had tried to go and finish nanowrimo with nothing more then an old story a couple pages long and a wonder if I could. Between computer issues, personal issues and other things that made me lose my focus I got to just about 21,000 words. that does not make it a loss it just did not get to my goal in the time allotted so here are some things I learned about this so if any of my readers want to try it they are better equipped.

1. Basic outline – The easiest part of typing the story as far as I did was to take the pages and read them. Normally my writing is very rushed one to the next. Boom, boom, boom. Having an outline set allows you to have a basic form to go by and that form can change as you see fit but you would still at least have the knowledge of where thing a would connect to on thing b even if thing c and b don’t meet you can still make it in to a skeleton you like for your story.

2. Focus – Give yourself some time every day and leave yourself a note, write it in your schedule, give yourself a time where you can just sit down and write it out only coming out in the case of serious emergency or mob en route to your writing spot. In short let everything else go and just let it be.

3. Learn how you work – Often times each person has different things, little nuances that can make their own efforts easier or harder. Like me typing with my big ‘ole ham hands can be hard sometimes unless I either stretch or find a bigger key board which I don’t think exists in many places. Either way, knowing how you work and how to best play off the positives while hiding the negatives will make your writing time more breezy less enraging.

4. Go in with a vision – If it is to get rich selling books then that will be more on the problem of advertising and quality control which you can only do half of that while you write. If you want to finish a full novel as your goal then this is a great way to at least get a jump on it. If you do not do it in thirty days then you will have a major portion complete by the end of the month.

5. Finish the story – Even if you are serious about competing against the dead line then make sure you have everything needed nearby when you write. If you get down about not making the time limit then try to pick yourself up and finish the story. Because the worst thing you can do is leave the story half finished after you put so much work in it.

Thoughts about teaching

So recently things have not been going on in the unhipster camp. People have been disappointing me in ways I really am hurt by. A thing I like to go by is that when someone asks me for help that I will do just that until they either raise there stock as the saying go. I love seeing people succeed, and I think that people do not know what they can do until they are forced to do it sometimes.

Following the disappointments from grand prix people who know me also know that I push people to be the best in everything they wish to strive for. So when I push and learn new things to further my own abilities it takes a lot of energy to even match me. Not to toot my own horn it is just when I push to learn sometimes eighteen hours some days between games, audio work, drawing, writing, advertising, marketing, finding a better job, working on my own economic situation.

People will come to be either your greatest asset or your greatest disappointment. The only disappointment by number is to have someone simply to leave before their abilities reach fruition. It has happened in the kitchen, in games and really every day it happens more then it should. A part of the issue is that people simply do not have the drive to really make their mark. From the other side of the coin I think a big issue is also the point of education or to work with someone to help them.

No matter what trade or what hobby you participate in it takes a special type of person to give the knowledge that they have without a whole lot of expectations in return. One day once a lot more of my financials are handled I really wish to be in a position to take a person and really take the time to train them imparting what I would have learned by then. Some people will not give the experience because many people believe they can still make money on it. True to some degree, but when some people will ask me to teach them to the best of my ability in something I will go to my limits for that person if they show they are receptive to it.

If someone was to beat me using a technique I had taught them then I had would then have to raise my game and as a response I would have to grow. I look at that as a form of payback to teach and have someone best you then you need to get better. Having someone you taught to give you that opportunity to better yourself is a form of pride for me. I wish that when I become more then what I am here that it can happen to propel someone to the next level.

Just my thoughts,

Blackberries and classes

I am taking some classes on a place called ALISON.com keeping everything else going is rough, but good for the mind. Right now working on a diploma in children’s studies.

Earlier today I had a bit of a family time picking blackberries with my mother. A couple places we know have berry bushes that are not sprayed down with chemicals. All natural, all organic and all free blackberries. Minus the pain of pulling some thorns out of various pieces of skin. Nothing worse then a splinter pain wise. With my new harvest freezing before I find something to do with them, and most likely the concoction will be on here.

Training continues on the program although nothing else has been finished and soon the grand prix will be coming to Portland. Before that though is the pro tour event just a couple days beforehand and if all goes well the group of us here should have someone going to do some recon on possible opponents.

Advertising ideas

Advertising seems to be the biggest bane of people when they are working on getting something made to the people. Which is understandable because now you have to get people to care while still being honest to your morals and beliefs. Not an easy balance to keep so here are some things you can look at.

Keep your objective in mind when advertising. If you have a game channel ( Planet of gratuitous sarcasm) for example you want to target people that will enjoy the product. Getting gamers that will give a couple moments to watch the channel is difficult.Image

This is a basic flyer telling about our channel. Now I didn’t put the youtube info because I plug it enough when I actually work on videos.

Keeping your objective in mind when finding avenues to advertise on. Over the past seven days finding avenues for the book on kindle has been difficult, but the good news when you work on something is you can keep trying it until you get things right. So with that I take my leave more to do and good luck folks.

Eggs Magda: Start by gathering the following ingredients. 2 Jumbo Eggs, 1/4 cup Green Onions, 1/4 cup grated Gruyere cheese, and 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard. At the end of this recipe you should have a very smooth cheesy set of scrambled eggs that is very nice on a slice of toasted wheat bread.

Start by cracking your eggs in a pan over medium low heat and whisk in your dijon mustard.Image

You will want to break up curds with a small whisk scraping gently from the bottom of the pan as it cooksImage.

After the color has changed you want to add the cheese and turn off the heat. Whisk it all together until it melts before finishing with the green onions. Whisk together and serve.

Simple but delicious. Serve with toast and bacon for a breakfast of champions. This recipe was for one portion. When making multiple portions though there is not much change in the process to make it.
