Self publishing options

So when you want to publish you have a few options one of the most popular is taking your work to a literary agent so that you can get someone in the business to get your words to the masses. In today;s era things are getting more and more difficult as more and more want to make their mark at the end of a pen. You can try sending your work to the publishers themselves except they may not be even looking what you want to publish so that may not even mail you back.

Self publishing is when you do the printing and advertising yourself. Please note that you will not have a company pushing it to the moon, but there are ways to build an audience especially with the advent of the nook or amazon e reader. From the heart

So from this point I spent some time about and part of me despite all the energy to get things going. No matter what vim and vigor I may have on these things to chase dreams is a difficult thing to do. Not trying to scare people with that statement, but it just is. Honestly I get a little blue for a while wondering why I continue until I have a moment.

I moment in my life where I look at someone or something, and it strikes me like a backhand to the fore head. There are people clawing on to every shred of hope they can while bettering themselves for something. I cannot give up because if they still have the ability to keep getting up then so do I.

The mother who came from nothing and wants to be an rocket scientist. She has two kids and is single does that stop her. Nope she works every day trying to get a little farther then yesterday. The brothers trying to spread the word of god while the religion is not my cup of tea I can respect the passion for their craft, and the drive to get better.

Also coming up is my birthday( May 1st) which kind of serves as a second new year’s day for me. Reaffirming your beliefs and dreams so it is kind of an important day for me. I take some time for this as I also get some planning done on how to get there in the fastest point. After I post this round of fanfics this will be it for a while. I will be trying to focus more on other projects so I am going to take some time and get some planning. Hopefully I will be able to get things going at a pace I like it will also be nice to take a couple days off throwing myself at it without burning out.

Beef and bell peppers over rice

For this you will need the following for ten portions heaped over rice. This is a dish that holds well in the fridge and can be eaten as is or over rice or noodles. When my friends or myself are feeling a little under the weather we eat a bowl of this. It can cure what ails ya.

Seven large peppers consisting of three red bell peppers, two yellow, a green bell pepper, and one poblano pepper.

One large white onion, one bunch of green onions, one shallot, and five or six good sized cloves of crushed garlic.

Meat wise you will need a half pound of each beef and pork chorizo and a pound and a half of 75/25 ground beef ( 25% fat)

Otherwise you will need a tablespoon of oil. (your choice) I had olive nearby but any will do.

Start by getting your oil in the pot before putting the pot on medium low heat.

Peel and smash your garlic before adding them to the pot. Dice your onion type items ( green, white, and shallot)  before dumping them in to the pot and giving them a good stir. You don’t want to hear a whole lot of sizzling.The pot will be there just to hold everything.

Give it a good stir before dicing up your peppers. Make sure to remove the white ribs of pith (That’s the kind of soft stuff forming the ribs inside the pepper.) Dice your peppers up and toss them in. Even if you are not the fastest with a knife you should have very little effect on the food. We are letting all the guests know each other flavor wise. Once it is mixed up in a pot take it off to cool. If your doing rice with this you can dump the veggies in to the future rice pot while the meat cooks.

Place your pot on medium high heat devoid of all vegetable matter before dumping in your chorizo. You want these to cook first because this will allow the spices in the fat to be released so that the beef can pick up the flavor. Once that has been rendered you can dump in your beef and let that cook up. While that is going in this is only going to have the spice of the chorizo which will be very mellow once it is all tossed together with the chopped offerings. This will be fairly mild overall.

Now the main portion of cooking will be when you dump everything back in to the pot with the warm meat and let everything hit a low simmer. Doing this will draw some of the liquid out of the peppers giving you a very nice well rounded sauce made in pot with little effort to pair with our bell peppers and beef.

Cook some rice and cook an egg sunny side up and build your bowl. It follows very few diets but by portions it can be tweaked with adding more vegetables or less fat if you need to.

This recipe was just a guess from the bell peppers and beef mentioned in the Cowboy Bebop anime. I would think that even a pair of bounty hunters could enjoy this. Thank you and see you all next time. Happy Easter.

So I got my fanfiction done. Working on typing it and soon a new batch of designs will be coming. Also this will be something of a monthly thing because the people who follow this make me happy to continue to keep doing this. Fanfiction advice and update.

So I am almost done writing this round of fanfiction. As I had put a couple months previous I only have a couple to go and this round has been very illuminating. When you write with preset characters you see how you like to do things, and your style becomes more definable. It also allows you to try some thing you would not normally write about. whether it be very emotional scenes or very action packed ones you can get a fair bit of practice with things you know. I used to do more technical writing. Things that were directions when something had to be done when I was not present in person.

That and I am a class A sucker for a really sappy romance. Always was so being able to get comments from people and hear what they liked or did not like. Posting something online you will always have some problems with people who just want to rip you apart without actually thinking about their comments. There is a difference between constructive criticism and just trying to be hurtful. Which in my case trying to be hurtful over the internet is like trying to cause a paper cut with a soggy oreo. It just is not going to happen. 

So I am almost done and if you want to start with fanfiction the best information I could give is to just jump right in. Find a show or a game that you want to do something before just jumping in.

 

 

Portland – Unnoticed in Tv food competition?

So I want to get some more experience in culinary competition. At first I thought I would try to toss my hat in on Chopped or Top Chef and give it a try. While doing this I thought I would look up some notable competitors to try and talk to, and get some tips or at least talk strategy. Doing my little research I looked up the past contestant list of both shows ( Chopped and Top Chef ). Not masters or teen of something or other until I realized something.

Between the two shows from their inception to the end of 2013 there has not been one single winner from Portland, Oregon. Now I have also found out the reason for this. Between the start of both seasons to the end of 2013 there has not been a single competitor from my fair little slice of the world. More then seven hundred people have tried between the two shows without a single one being from Oregon.

If I seem to be mistaken then please let me know. When every other state is represented by at least a half dozen only for one state to not have one seems a bit odd and a mistake by people who have to pick the people to go on their shows. I cannot say whether it is on purpose or on accident. It does not really matter to me, but where it does is that you cannot really say that it is truly in the spirit of competition.

Just something to think about.

3 months in goal check.

So I say the word dreams so much it is kinda funny. However, it is a concept I do believe in. So as one cannot preach without practicing it. Here is how things are looking after three months.

With that in mind how are you doing with your dreams since the beginning of the new year? I hope you all ( I am legit surprised to see that between just on the wordpress page. I have close to 200 subscribers Thanks for everything so far and if we can hit 250 I am going to do my best to come up with a couple really good.

Stuffed Chicken with cheddar and mustard sauce

So with this recipe your going to need the following for one plate

2 4oz portions of boned and skinned dark meat chicken, 2 oz cheddar, 3 slices of bacon, olive oil for pan frying. For the sauce add a tablespoon and a half of dijon mustard, a tsp of honey, and a quarter cup of heavy cream.

So start out with your pan on medium heat and begin to cook your chicken after both sides have been flipped and cooked through. Stuff them with cheddar and let it sit for a moment while the bacon cooks. Drain the pan of your fry oil before dropping your bacon in to the pan. Cook your bacon through while making sure that it does not turn to glass. This will be the layer between your sauce and the chicken.

While this recipe is very rich the sauce should have a very refreshing bite. Either from the horse radish and acidity in the mustard or from additional seasoning. Other ways you can roll it is using addition of chives or cayenne pepper for additional color. The light heat of the seasoning or the fresh aroma of the chopped chives adds anew dimension to this. When you make the sauce all you have to do is put it all in a clean pan let it simmer after whisking together until the volume decreases by a third to a half.

Layer your bacon on top of your chicken and pour the sauce on top of the bacon gently then enjoy. So hope you enjoy and hopefully after eating this you get one step closer.

Guest Blogger: Broken on the orgasmacake

I guess I have to do this something about guest blogging or whatever. I am Broken from the planet of gratuitous sarcasm. These are the cupcakes that the first taster named the orgasmacake. We did it for an anime convention and when we found out we could not sell it we decided to give a few out. These are an easy enough recipe and unlike Big T I don’t cook much so I use cake mix. Start off with your cake mix of choice and proceed with making the batter as it follows on the box with one major difference in this batch. 

I used some of Big T’s Cherry Dr. Pepper instead of the water. It adds a little bit of flavor. The big thing in this will be the hidden chunk of chocolate chip cookie dough in the center cupcake. I buy mine premade, your looking for a chunk the size of a d6 (6 sided die)

Mix your eggs and oil and cut your cookie dough to the size needed and then add your cake mix. Make sure it is smooth. Oh and make sure you put papers in your cupcake pan. It is not fun to fish them out without papers. When you construct your cakes pour half your batter in it before dropping in the cookie dough ball, and cover with the remaining amount of batter. Bake the cakes until they are done. Cool them off and enjoy.
