Perfection and Impossible

One of my past coworkers is one of those people who is bright eyed and bushy tailed at least while at work. He would work from this desk with different pictures and sayings about driving one’s self trying to achieve perfection. We both had over our time at work found out we had a lot of goals that aligned and even just where we want to be in a few years were fairly similar, but the one thing we could never agree on was the subject of perfection.

If you like anime there is a show called Bleach where the main force is a group called the Gotei 13. It is a military group based on thirteen different squads each headed by a Captain who acts as both a leader of their own group while reporting to the captain of the first squad who also holds the title of Captain – Commander. One of these captains goes by the name of Mayuri Kurotsuchi. He was in a battle with a scientist from an opposing group who was very skilled at disabling opponents and after talking on the point of their shared interest in science they came to the point of perfection after the captain’s opponent claimed how he was the perfect scientist. Mayuri then ranted on the subject of perfection that I really had to agree on.

Here is a picture with the speech on it .

Perfection is the bane of imagination because after perfection there is nothing left. It is a condition of hopelessness when something is perfect. It does not mean you cannot strive to surpass yourself you can still try to improve, just be aware you will never be perfect.

When it comes to speaking I use impossible as many do perfect as one cannot know the odds about everything the argument can be fought how impossible is only limited by imagination and time. Impossible really can not be truly meant until you put against another abstract ideal.

Striving for better throughout your life was the only thing we could agree on whether the end we found to be abstract or within reach. The detail areound being perfect was just something that we both agreed to disagree.

Beef and bell peppers over rice

For this you will need the following for ten portions heaped over rice. This is a dish that holds well in the fridge and can be eaten as is or over rice or noodles. When my friends or myself are feeling a little under the weather we eat a bowl of this. It can cure what ails ya.

Image

Seven large peppers consisting of three red bell peppers, two yellow, a green bell pepper, and one poblano pepper.

One large white onion, one bunch of green onions, one shallot, and five or six good sized cloves of crushed garlic.

Meat wise you will need a half pound of each beef and pork chorizo and a pound and a half of 75/25 ground beef ( 25% fat)

Otherwise you will need a tablespoon of oil. (your choice) I had olive nearby but any will do.

Start by getting your oil in the pot before putting the pot on medium low heat.

Peel and smash your garlic before adding them to the pot. Dice your onion type items ( green, white, and shallot)  before dumping them in to the pot and giving them a good stir. You don’t want to hear a whole lot of sizzling. The pot will be there just to hold everything.

Image

Give it a good stir before dicing up your peppers. Make sure to remove the white ribs of pith (That’s the kind of soft stuff forming the ribs inside the pepper.) Dice your peppers up and toss them in. Even if you are not the fastest with a knife you should have very little effect on the food. We are letting all the guests know each other flavor wise. Once it is mixed up in a pot take it off to cool. If your doing rice with this you can dump the veggies in to the future rice pot while the meat cooks.

Image

Place your pot on medium high heat devoid of all vegetable matter before dumping in your chorizo. You want these to cook first because this will allow the spices in the fat to be released so that the beef can pick up the flavor. Once that has been rendered you can dump in your beef and let that cook up. While that is going in this is only going to have the spice of the chorizo which will be very mellow once it is all tossed together with the chopped offerings. This will be fairly mild overall.

Image

Now the main portion of cooking will be when you dump everything back in to the pot with the warm meat and let everything hit a low simmer. Doing this will draw some of the liquid out of the peppers giving you a very nice well rounded sauce made in pot with little effort to pair with our bell peppers and beef.

Cook some rice and cook an egg sunny side up and build your bowl. It follows very few diets but by portions it can be tweaked with adding more vegetables or less fat if you need to.

This recipe was just a guess from the bell peppers and beef mentioned in the Cowboy Bebop anime. I would think that even a pair of bounty hunters could enjoy this. Thank you and see you all next time. Happy Easter.

Fanfiction advice and update.

So I am almost done writing this round of fanfiction. As I had put a couple months previous I only have a couple to go and this round has been very illuminating. When you write with preset characters you see how you like to do things, and your style becomes more definable. It also allows you to try some thing you would not normally write about. whether it be very emotional scenes or very action packed ones you can get a fair bit of practice with things you know. I used to do more technical writing. Things that were directions when something had to be done when I was not present in person.

That and I am a class A sucker for a really sappy romance. Always was so being able to get comments from people and hear what they liked or did not like. Posting something online you will always have some problems with people who just want to rip you apart without actually thinking about their comments. There is a difference between constructive criticism and just trying to be hurtful. Which in my case trying to be hurtful over the internet is like trying to cause a paper cut with a soggy oreo. It just is not going to happen.

So I am almost done and if you want to start with fanfiction the best information I could give is to just jump right in. Find a show or a game that you want to do something before just jumping in.

Guest Blogger: Broken on the orgasmacake

ImageImage

I guess I have to do this something about guest blogging or whatever. I am Broken from the planet of gratuitous sarcasm. These are the cupcakes that the first taster named the orgasmacake. We did it for an anime convention and when we found out we could not sell it we decided to give a few out. These are an easy enough recipe and unlike Big T I don’t cook much so I use cake mix. Start off with your cake mix of choice and proceed with making the batter as it follows on the box with one major difference in this batch.

I used some of Big T’s Cherry Dr. Pepper instead of the water. It adds a little bit of flavor. The big thing in this will be the hidden chunk of chocolate chip cookie dough in the center cupcake. I buy mine premade, your looking for a chunk the size of a d6 (6 sided die)

ImageImage

Mix your eggs and oil and cut your cookie dough to the size needed and then add your cake mix. Make sure it is smooth. Oh and make sure you put papers in your cupcake pan. It is not fun to fish them out without papers. When you construct your cakes pour half your batter in it before dropping in the cookie dough ball, and cover with the remaining amount of batter. Bake the cakes until they are done. Cool them off and enjoy.

Pictures and Updates 3/24/14

Since my last entry I did some searching to find some of the pictures from one of my own conventions. Now if by any way you find yourself in these let me know and I will give due credit. They will be after all this noise. Recording was done for six more videos and our main magic series is done from here we will be going in to how to build a deck and any other game styles. You can check that out on the channel when you have some time. We got a new(er) camcorder on the way so soon that we can get it hooked up we will be filming with it. Be aware none of us have said we are handsome, but we do have fun so if you don’t mind the occasional low def face on a high(er) def camcorder. We have a few videos for our card and table game series and our lets plays and rage face videos have a couple to each.

So if you see here people are to have fun with these now with taking pictures at conventions always try to ask for permission first. I did with all of these and if they ask you to take something down please respect the wishes of the cosplayer. Until I can get everything off my camera peeps have a good one and hope you enjoy your week. Check my links when your bored and let me know what you think. I have made an email address for this blog its a silly name but you can contact at blazingblackphoenix@gmail.com

How to enjoy a convention

For a lot of people a convention can be a bit overwhelming. The pictures, the attitude, the atmosphere it can be a bit much for a lot of people. If you find a con with a subject you con support then by all means go for it. Here are some things to know to make your time there much more enjoyable.

First, is plan what you need (food, room and board, spending money, etc.) When you go to a con most times the hotel will not allow many secondary food vendors in. So unless you want to go for a walk, and often times they will set up not so far away form the con so it will not be a long one. Then you will need to have some way of eating because the worse case scenario is you not being at your best to enjoy the good times to be had. You will also be surprised how many calories you can burn in such settings.

Pick out a couple things you want to go to and leave the rest up to your whims. Over planning can really drain you and although you really to get all the place can offer there is a charm about just milling about seeing what your fellow con attenders can get going.

Get social, bring a camera or at least a notepad so you can keep in contact with your new friends as time goes by. To help with this please keep yourself springtime fresh. Conventions do have a bad stigma attached of a couple people per con being what you called fairly ripe. for those who are not educated on the term it means they reek like a seat cushion after chili night.

Last is make sure you have funds to get a couple items. A little spending money may be all you need if you have a mind to haggle. Go out to a con and have some fun.
