It is not a job or is it a career?

It is a strange place where people despite all the good it is to work somewhere you are fulfilled at. For artists in some fashion from writers to youtubers. Youtube can be an art for the effort that goes in to it. People try to do things they love to make the world a better place and their is this one critique that makes me want to start headbutting people.

“That’s not a real job.”

People I know who have gotten to that point in their lives I have nothing but envy for. It would be great to work somewhere you want or do something you want and pay the bills. It  boggles the mind how people cannot be down for that. It isn’t everyone who can get themselves to that set up in their lives. Between working somewhere and hating it or taking the chance to get a shot at something much more fulfilling the second one would always be the choice for me.

When people seem to lob the excuse forward when something does not go as expected it makes me wonder why it was even voiced to begin with. According to good old Webster it states how it is a paid position of regular employment.Statements like that make little sense to me except showing the misunderstanding of some people.

It is one of my goals to be in a position where writing, drawing, doing the youtube thing, and overall just creating can get me a comfortable income. From there I want to change the world with business, but I still want to make it creating things that others can enjoy. It is going to be hard, and I know that. Not to play the sob story, but I know that there are a lot of odds counting against me. That is the case with anyone trying to get there no matter who it is. If you have the money to help with that. So maybe others will not think of it as a job, but if it can be done then it is a  better one then all the jobs that pepole hate to do.

If effort on what I want to do while getting paid is not a job then what is it. No, what I think people mean by it is reflected by the statement they should be saying instead.

“That’s not a real bad job.”

Metal Gear Survive -Dead On Arrival?

So anyone even listening to game news over the past week has heard of what has happened to the Metal Gear series has heard what has happened with the new game announced with trailer Metal Gear Survive. For those who do not know let me give you the short version.

Game company did well for a while. Wanted to make money easier. Decided to put all their Ip’s (intellectual properties) in pachinko machines while showing a lot of venom to the average gamer. Pachinko laws get passed where it may be more scrutinaized and taxed and Konami wants to come back to games like nothing has happened for the sake of a better business model. Now, one way to do that is to really come back after all this and make something people want to see.

From the view of the trailer it is a game with zombies and four player co-op possibility with little flavor from the series beforehand. Which is sad considering the series itself despite its flaws had a fan base that was willing to back a release. It is most likely going to disappoint unless Konami has a major set of aces up their sleeve which it could very well be the point. Take the series somewhere it would not normally go so you can really push it in a new direction, but given the company’s actions it will be something where they will need to prove it before anyone takes their word at face value.

This game could very well be the game that gets them a second chance as a good gaming company, and if it does it would still have work to do. Konami has made enough enemies with their actions against the previous designers and employees, disrespected the fans, and overall turned in to a company where the stereotype of the money grubbing company is closer to people’s views then one with a vision and purpose. Either way I do hope they take the time to make this a good one otherwise the market just begin to turn more toxic to their products. Keeping in mind where they started coming back to gamers, that is not a good thing.

Perfection and Impossible

One of my past coworkers is one of those people who is bright eyed and bushy tailed at least while at work. He would work from this desk with different pictures and sayings about driving one’s self trying to achieve perfection. We both had over our time at work found out we had a lot of goals that aligned and even just where we want to be in a few years were fairly similar, but the one thing we could never agree on was the subject of perfection.

If you like anime there is a show called Bleach where the main force is a group called the Gotei 13. It is a military group based on thirteen different squads each headed by a Captain who acts as both a leader of their own group while reporting to the captain of the first squad who also holds the title of Captain – Commander. One of these captains goes by the name of Mayuri Kurotsuchi. He was in a battle with a scientist from an opposing group who was very skilled at disabling opponents and after talking on the point of their shared interest in science they came to the point of perfection after the captain’s opponent claimed how he was the perfect scientist. Mayuri then ranted on the subject of perfection that I really had to agree on.

Here is a picture with the speech on it .

Perfection is the bane of imagination because after perfection there is nothing left. It is a condition of hopelessness when something is perfect. It does not mean you cannot strive to surpass yourself you can still try to improve, just be aware you will never be perfect.

When it comes to speaking I use impossible as many do perfect as one cannot know the odds about everything the argument can be fought how impossible is only limited by imagination and time. Impossible really can not be truly meant until you put against another abstract ideal.

Striving for better throughout your life was the only thing we could agree on whether the end we found to be abstract or within reach. The detail areound being perfect was just something that we both agreed to disagree.
